SVO raids coaching institutes, seizes records

JAMMU, Nov 18: Tightening its noose on the private practice of teachers, State Vigilance organization (SVO) today raided various private coaching institutions where from reports had come that some government teachers were teaching in these institutions.
Close on the heels of announcement of ban by government on the private tuitions by government teachers; a team of Vigilance Organization raided the private educational institutions including Aakash, ASL, Apex, Civils and Genesis.
Vigilance team which was led by a senior officer of the State Vigilance Organization also seized records from these institutions to probe and ascertain facts.
According to sources, team found out that some government teachers were giving lectures in these institutions. The records seized by the Vigilance team included enrolment registers, cash memos, day books, Income Tax returns and registration certificates. These records are being scrutinized.
More relevant records are also being obtained from these institutions which included balance sheets, bank accounts etc. Meanwhile sources said that the management of these institutions will also be questioned during the probe and the action warranted under rules will also be taken against the erring government officers.
Sources said the SVO has also decided to raid other private educational institutions as it has come to know that some government teachers are giving lectures in these institutions also.
The Vigilance Organization has been given instructions from the government to take stern action against he erring teachers as warranted under law, sources said, adding the Government has decided not to allow the private tuition by the government teachers as same tantamount to corruption in public life.
Sources said to discipline the Education Department and ensure the punctuality of teachers in its schools the government ahs decided to impose a blanket ban on private tuitions in the State. Sources said the Vigilance Organization will also conduct the raids in other district head quarters like Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi to ascertain that the order issued by the Government is implemented in letter and spirit.
