| Anantnag college professor targeted for questioning principal | | | Akshay Azad

Jammu, Dec 21: An Assistant Professor of Government Degree College Anantnag is being targeted by the college authorities for questioning the move of incumbent Principal to replace the plaque installed on a fountain which had the name of his predecessor and his salary has been withheld by the administration.
Sources informed Early Times that an Assistant professor Ali Mohammad Wani has reportedly knocked the door of court to get his salary released but surprisingly without waiting for the outcome of application, salary of few months was released by administration.
The alleged victimization of Wani started, sources alleged, when he reportedly questioned the move to replace the plaque installed on the fountain. "It was tinkering with the aesthetic beauty of fountain structure. The plaque of former Principal was replaced by incumbent after spending huge money", sources said adding that the principal was rude when certain staff members questioned his move.
Sources further alleged that the assistant professor in question, when asked the permission to attend a 3- day workshop being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the Principal denied him permission.
"But when the assistant professor refused to budge and went to attend the workshop, the Principal sought explanation on 28/7/2015 and second on 30 July and 3rd on 3rd August", sources said, while showing the explanations.
They further said that the Assistant professor in question reportedly replied to the explanation on 31st July and again on 6th July.
Principal of GDC Anantnag, MY Peerzada said that he had simply asked the Assistant Professor to produce any invitation for the workshop. "Under rules without any invitation we cannot send any professor. We even asked him to produce invitation on next day or get it from Academy through fax as I had no objection for granting him leave. He was not any resource person and not had to present any paper in the workshop. Being a principal I have to run the system as per rules", he said.
He further said, "The system cannot run on whims and fancies but competent authority is responsible. It was not a big issue but the Assistant Professor went to court and the case is now sub-judice. Except the month in question (July month) the salary of other months has already been released".
The Principal said that the fountain was defunct and needed repairs, so the decision to renovate was taken to make the fountain functional. |
