Resignation Drama: Dr Pampori submits joining report
'Can't rejoin till Govt issues formal order'
12/21/2015 11:25:20 PM
ET Report
SRINAGAR, Dec 21: After staging "resignation drama" the former Principal of the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar Dr Rafiq Pampori once again stirred the hornet's nest on Monday by sending his joining report through fax to the incumbent GMC Principal, sources told Early Times.
Pertinently, Dr Pampori had reportedly gone on a protest leave and had asked the Government to consider his voluntary retirement last week. Following Dr Pampori's request Government on Saturday relieved him and appointed senior pediatrician Dr Qaisar Ahmed as the new In-charge Principal of the GMC Srinagar to end the controversy surrounding Dr Rafiq Pampori.
The former GMC principal had gone on a protest leave as the Health Minister had taken some important administrative decisions without consulting him.
The Health Minister, according to the sources, took full advantage of Dr Pampori's protest leave and without wasting anytime installed a new principal at GMC Srinagar.
Sources said soon after Dr Pampori submitted his joining report this morning the In-charge Principal Dr Kaiser Ahmed informed him that he has been appointed by the government and he cannot handover the charge to Dr Pampori till the new relieving order is issued by the Health Department.
Sources revealed that after Health Minister appointed Dr Kaisar as the in-charge principal of the GMC Dr Pampori through his close aides approached the Chief Minister and apprised him about him (Dr Pampori) being turned into "puppet" and his authority being undermined. The Chief Minister, sources said, had said that he would look into the matter.
However, on Sunday Dr Rafiq Pampori said that he would be joining back on Monday claiming that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had assured him that there would be no political interference in GMC.
Despite Dr Pampori's claim that he was persuaded by the Chief Minister to join back, no government order was issued with regard to Dr Pampori till late in the evening even the officials of the Health Department were unaware of any latest development if any.
An official of the Health Department while talking to Early Times said, "Dr Kaisar cannot handover the charge till he is relieved officially as proper government order was issued when he was appointed as the Incharge-Principal of the GMC. If Dr Pampori has to take over again a proper order would be issued in this regard."
It's in place to mention here that Dr Pampori's extended term was all set to end in Feburary this year but he was given one more extension just two days before the PDP-BJP government took oath in Jammu and Kashmir in March this year.
Soon after the new government was formed and the new Health Minister took over Dr Rafiq Pampori threatened to tender his resignation as he was allegedly humiliated by the Mantri. However, his (Dr Pampori's) protest remained confined to papers only as he joined back within 2-days to avoid further confrontation.
