SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Dec 20 : Hailing the thaw in India-Pakistan relationships, top representatives of the business community of Jammu and Kashmir have called upon the leadership of both countries to widen the scope of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs)and strengthen the existing ones. During three-day long meeting held in Dubai, the representatives of the business community affiliated to Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber and other regional Chambers and Federations welcomed the steps taken by both governments to resume the dialogue process and hoped that Islamabad and New Delhi will take tangible steps to further strengthen trade, travel, and civil society exchanges across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. With support and facilitation from Conciliation Resources, the members of the business community had gathered in Dubai to deliberate upon future prospects of Cross-LoC Trade and other CBMs. The meeting was also an opportunity to convene an annual meeting of key members of the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JK-JCCI), the first-ever platform of cross-Line-of-Control collaboration. Besides, YV Sharma, the other members from Jammu and Kashmir who attended the Dubai meeting included Rakesh Gupta, President Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mushtaq Wani, President Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Annil Suri, Lalit Mahajan, Satya Bhushan Abrol (Federation of Industries, Jammu), Pawan Anand, Hilal Ahmed Turk (Cross-LoC Traders), Ashiq Sheikh (Kashmir Chamber), Arun Gupta (Jammu Chamber), Ashraf Mir (Federation of Industries, Kashmir) and Yasin Khan (Traders Federation). |
