JAMMU, Jan 02: Week-long annual NSS Winter Camp, organised by GGM Science College, concluded at the College premises, here today with the holding of valedictory function. Director Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing, OP Vidhyarthi was chief guest while Secretary, Water Resources Regulatory Authority, J&K, Ravi Kant Verma was resource person. The function besides others was attended by faculty members. Chief guest appreciated the role of NSS units in doing such activities. He told the participants about the significance of medicinal plants and advised the students to participate more in eco-friendly activities. During the camp, a number of activities were undertaken by the NSS volunteers like cleanliness drive on the College Campus, extension lectures on various social issues by the eminent resource persons, visit of the volunteers to Bal Niketan Ved Ashram, Amphalla, Kusht Ashram, Bhagwati Nagar besides some cultural activities. The NSS volunteers also visited the Vridh Ashram, Amphalla and celebrated new year with the elderly people of the Ashram and presented cultural programme. Earlier, a detailed report of the camp was presented by NSS Programme Officer, Dr Rajinder Singh. Principal of the College, Dr Ajeet Angral, while speaking with the volunteers shared his experiences, chaired a feedback session and watched a nukad play with a theme 'Save the girl child'. He advised the students to come forward in boosting the growth and prosperity of the society. The seven days camp was organized under the supervision of NSS Programme Officers, Dr Rajinder Singh and Dr Vinod Bakshi. The vote of thanks was proposed by NSS Programme Officer, Dr Vinod Bakshi. |
