Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 2: In the absence of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is currently admitted at AIIMS New Delhi, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is trying hard to mend fences with disgruntled leaders while assuring its party to bring the rebels back to party's fold. It has become a challenge for Mehbooba as to whether she will be able to reconcile with the rebels. Despite the fact that after PDP formed the government with BJP in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, PDP's founder members Muzzaffar Beigh and former Finance Minister and MP Tariq Hameed Karra brazenly started a revolt in the party by issuing anti party statements and criticized its policy. The question arises here that whether Mehbooba will bring senior and core members of PDP in to confidence or will both rebels run away from the party after the party Patron is suffering from illness.
Recently, a party meet was held at Banquet hall in Srinagar whereMehbooba, according to party insiders, has conveyed in an attempt to save the party from split, said founder members - Muzafar Beigh and Tariq Karra have put hard labor to realize the party's formation. Mehbooba while trying to pacify the 'angry' party leaders said PDP is house and citing example how the PDP was formed in 1996,"if I myself worked as the mason, Tariq Karra put his labor. It is like that he brought bricks on his shoulder to construct PDP as a party," a party insider, who has attended the Party Meeting, said. It is pertinent to mention here that Mufti Sayeed in his first press conference in winter capital of state after Darbar Move shifted to Jammu praised his daughter and credited her with consolidating the PDP base. He added "we increased our base not because of me but because of Mehbooba." In the meeting, Mehbooba directed all party leaders to work hard in order to strengthen the party base at grassroots level and thereby fulfill the socio-economic aspirations of people in their respective areas. "PDP is committed not to leave any stone unturned to take initiatives for the equitable development of all the three regions of the state in years to come," said a member adding its PDP's commitment to work tirelessly for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir under the guidance of party president-ship.
According to a source in PDP, Mehbooba is trying hard in order to save party patronage as some party leaders expressed resentment over Karra's and Beigh's continuous anti-party statements and demanded their 'apology'. However, both the MP's and senior leaders of PDP once again skipped the party meeting held at Banquet hall here. Al party member except its core founders were present. Angry Karra and Beigh have, till date, not attended a single meeting of PDP-BJP coordination committee. Both have declared a number of times that they will not attend any of the meetings of the committee.
Karra, did not attend an 'important' meeting of the PDP which was held in Srinagar on October 21 under the leadership of party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti even as he was very much present in the Valley, that day.
