Jammu, Jan 2: A joint team of Vigilance, Revenue and Forest departments today paid surprise visit to business establishments being run by a BJP Minister and established that buildings were constructed on forestland.
According to sources the team visited Nawabad, Sunjwan area where "the property of the Minister falls under khasra number 356, i.e forest land."
Sources said record and possession on ground vindicated that the Minister, who is also son in law of powerfull family of State, had used his influence while constructing building on forest land. "While scrutiny the record and actual possession it was established, the Minister had encroached upon forest land and constructed business establishments on the said land", sources said, adding that BN Collage of Education and another complex (rented out to J&K Bank) belongs to the Minister.
"DFO Jammu, Tehsildar and an officer of DSP rank from Vigilance including subordinate staff today visited the spot", sources in Forest Department told ET, adding that a report is likely to be made by forest as well as Revenue department within a week.
They said that the matter was lying before Vigilance for a long time, the anti-graft agency had repeatedly asked Forest and Revenue departments to get demarcated the land. "Presently, 22 Kanal of land is under control of the Minister, revenue record (Latha and Sajjra) scrutinized by the team, reveals that land belongs to Forest Department", the official said. |
