Probe ordered into alleged violation of MGNREGA norms by RDD JE, Jr Asstt | ACD asks BDO to stop execution of work | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar Jan 2: Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Nabi Balwan today ordered a probe into the allegations of violation of MGNREGA norms by an RDD junior engineer and a junior assistant, who are executing a MGNREGA work in Poohi area of panchayat Lachdayaram-A. He directed the assistant commissioner development, Kishtwar, to enquire into the matter and submit a report to his office. Official sources said a complaint was filed by one Mohammad Imran Shah of Poohi before the DC, alleging that JE Mansoor Butt and junior assistant Imran Butt had denied jobs to job card holders while constructing the path leading towards the house of Imran But, son of Mohammad Shabir, by violating the norms. He alleged that the two RDD employees were doing the work on their own as if they were contractors, denying job to the job card holders. "The department is bound to execute the work through job card holders as envisaged in the act--- the officials are not supposed to execute the work without engaging the job card holders and if this practice is allowed, it will not only bring bad name to the department but will also result in the wastage of public exchequer," said the complainant. After giving him a patient hearing, the DC directed ACD to enquire the matter in terms. Acting on the DC's directions, ACD Akther Hussain Qazi issued directions to BDO, Kishtwar, to stop the work in question with immediate effect till the concern raised by the complainant was addressed by a free and fair probe. |
