Saahil Suhail Kulgam, Jan 2: Taking cognizance of an Early Times report, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, has finally constituted a committee to investigate the alleged scam that has surfaced in Qimoh Block of Rural Development Department. Official sources said Additional Deputy commissioner, Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Seminani is heading the committee. They said ADC along with Program officer, Block Development Officer, Qimoh, today visited Baan village of Kulgam district to ascertain the facts. "The committee was constituted by DC, Kulgam, Syed Aabid Hussain following the publication of a news report in this regard by ET," an insider said. He said the additional deputy commissioner had been asked to file the factual report within seven working days. Pertinently, on December 30 last, Early Times had carried a report on the alleged scam in RDD's Qimoh Block. Dr Abul Bari Naik, an RTI activist of the village, who obtained the information under RTI Act alleged that 'blue-eyed' contractors in nexus with some officials of the department had drawn lakhs of rupees against bogus works executed under the centrally sponsored MGNREGA in the area. "However, the details provided by the BDO mismatch on the ground. On papers, scores of works have been shown executed. Ironically, on ground most of these works do not exist. Money has been illegally drawn against fake land levelling and construction of bathrooms. The scam must be thoroughly investigated," information provided by the department under RTI Act revealed. |
