1/2/2016 11:15:33 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Jan 2: Following his non-cooperation in the inquiry over allegations of financial irregularities by the senior assistants in the office at Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) office at Dungi, Ch Lal Hussain ,CEO has demanded explanation from the ZEO and warned action under rules/regulations if he failed to explain his position.
After several complaints by the employees of education department into alleged financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds in the office of ZEO at Dungi, Chief Education Officer (CEO) has constituted inquiry committee to investigate the complaints.
Sources said that the inquiry team visited the ZEO office several times but every time the concerned Senior Assistants on one or other pretext didn't produce the official records before the team members.
Even the Zonal Education Officer, Mulkh Raj, seems to be in no mood to produce the official records ,said a source and added that all the senior assistants also facing Vigilance and other departmental inquiries in the financial irregularities continue to work in the office despite their transfers.
On December 26, Ashok Kumar, principal head of the inquiry team, also assisted by Mohd Qayoom, headmaster and Zonal Education Project Officer (ZEPO), had informed the CEO about the non-cooperative attitude of the senior assistants and ZEO.
ZEO informed CEO about the several reminders issued by him to the senior assistants namely Babu Ram, Ashok Kumar for producing the records but failed as they didn't face the inquiry team.
"How this can be justified when these assistants are performing routine work continuously like drawing of salary, conduct of community mobilization, self defense programmes, and transaction of money including cheques etc" said CEO.
CH Altaf Hussain ,CEO on December 30 has directed the ZEO ,Dungi to explain his position in this matter within three days.
Pertinently both the senior assistants, who possess all the official records of the ZEO office, have been transferred following several inquiries of financial irregularities against them.
But neither they have joined at the place of their new postings nor they have handed over the official records at ZEO office and keeping them in their custody.
Even the department has stopped the salary of Babu Ram, senior assistant for the last about five years, said a source and added that both have been putting pressure on the CEO to stop/cancel the inquiry against them initiated by him (CEO) by constituting a team of three officers.
After several complaints by the education employees about misappropriation of several funds including SSA, GP, school etc, Ch Altaf Hussain, CEO has initiated inquiry against these senior assistants.
