Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 2: A moderate earthquake, first in 2016, rocked Kashmir valley, including summer capital Srinagar, this afternoon forcing people to rush out of their homes in panic. A Met department spokesman told that the tremors, third during the past one week, which were felt at 1408 hrs this afternoon lasted in for a few seconds. He said the epicentre of the 5.8 magnitude on the Richer Scale, was somewhere in the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan. There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property. On December 26, an earthquake of 6.5 magnitude shook the valley, claiming the life of a person who suffered massive heart attack in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal. A government school building, which was already declared unsafe, collapsed partially on December 29.
