Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Feb 18: A delegation of the youth of Marwah and Warwan areas of the district today called on Governor's advisor Pravez Dewan and told them that majority of offices of the two tehsils from operational from the district headquarter at Kishtwar.
The delegation told Dewan that Marwah and Warwan "remain cut off from rest of the world for 3 months and there has been no serious effort by the administration or the government to provide relief to the inhabitants of these areas".
They told him that during the three winter months, all the government offices "remain closed except for the police station".
"It is a matter of deep concern that despite having no heavy snowfall this winter Margan road was not made motorable nor any air service was started as demanded during the last district development board meeting," they said.
The delegation also discussed the non-availability of doctors in the local hospital which, they said, had several times resulted into the loss of precious lives.
"The new academic session is also going to commence and the two HS schools have no permanent staff and those who are posted there don't turn up for the duty which has put the future of our youths at stake," they added.
The delegation also took up the matter of the Solar grid and VSAT system which were kept at BDO office, Warwan, for the past six months but were yet to be installed. "The BDO, who tried to install it, was transferred within one month of his appointment just because of political influence. The proposed biometric attendance system is not workable in Marwah and Warwan as there is no electricity there," they said. The advisor assured them to look into their demands and asked them to come to him after few days along with some suggestions that are workable in Marwah and Warwan to ensure administrative efficiency. The delegation comprised of Zahoor Ahmed Wani, Raouf Ul Islam and others.
