Omar for no action against seditious Kashmiri students | JNU incident | | Early Times Report jammu, Feb 18: The decision of the Union Government to take action against the anti-nationals involved in the February 9 Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) anti-India event in which Kashmiri and other students, plus some perverted teachers, took part and raised anti-India slogans has up set Kashmiri leaders of all hues, including NC working president Omar Abdullah. The incident shook the entire nation with nationalists across the country and media upping the ante against them and the BJP Government at the Centre and demanding stringent action against the anti-national students and others so that a right signal goes that India will not tolerate any anti-national activity anywhere in the country. The outrage was natural as many JNU students, including Kashmiri students and some other subversive elements from Kashmir, had demanded Azadi for Kashmir, Manipur and Kerala, declared that their movement will continue till India was broken into pieces and Kashmir got independence from India and also raised slogans against late Mufti Sayeed and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah, to mention only a few. They had created a horrible scene on the campus. It appeared as if the anti-nationals had taken over the JNU campus. The Government of India, which was under pressure to take action against the seditious students, started identifying those involved in the episode. The police, which arrested JNU Student Union President Kanhiya Kumar on February 13 and booked him under the charge of sedition and criminal conspiracy, have been raiding various localities to nab all those identified seditious students and others, Kashmiri and non-Kashmiri students included. The police have also been raiding various hostels to nab the anti-nationals. It is this action on the part of the Government that has up set Omar Abdullah and others of his ilk in Kashmir. They have defended the anti-nationals saying they did no wrong and that they only exercised their right to free-speech as granted by the Indian Constitution. Omar Abdullah was so up set that he issued a written statement on Wednesday, which said: "If the Delhi Police and the Home Ministry want to unleash a dictatorial and tyrannical crackdown on dissenting voices and students in Delhi, they should not make Kashmiri students convenient scapegoats and stigmatize them and in turn ruin their careers. This is unacceptable". He described the revolt against India in the heart of the national capital as "dissenting voice" and asked New Delhi not to take action against them. In fact, he made common cause with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, CPI and CPI-M leaders Sitaram Yechury and D Raja and, in fact, all those fake secular outfits which had been defending the JNU episode. It is Omar Abdullah and the likes of him who are responsible for the police action in Delhi. They have created anti-India feelings among Kashmiris by giving them to understand that Indian presence in J&K is illegal and that it has brought the State under the ambit of Indian Constitution. In fact, they have been responsible for the JNU episode. The situation as it exists in the country today calls for a definite action. If New Delhi fails at this point in time, the very institution of the Indian State would be under threat. New Delhi not only has to act against seditious students but it has also to take similar steps in Kashmir which has been witnessing such events on a daily basis for more than two decades now. |
