Poonch, Feb 18: While making searches for a wanted criminal, a police party of SOG, Mendhar, was attacked by locals at Kasalbari, resulting in injuries to three cops.
Police sources said cops of SOG Mendhar had gone to Kasalbari in search for a wanted criminal when locals assaulted them.
Sources alleged after a sarpanch spread the news that police had come to arrest a particular preson, locals got angry and pelted stones on the police party, resulting in injuries to three cops who were shifted to the Sub-District Hospital, Mendhar.
The injured cops were identified as Mohammad Razaq, Mohammad Naseer and Abdul Majeed. Razaq was later shifted to the distrcit hospital, Rajouri, for specialized treatment.
Mendhar SDPO Shahid Naeem said a special team of police headed by Mendhar SHO, SI Shabir Ahmed was sent to the spot and the miscreants were identified as Mohammad Shakeel and Mohammad Iqbal, a CISF Constable.
A case was registered against the accused under sections 353, 336 and 35 of RPC at Mendhar police station, the SDPO added. |
