JKTVRTF highlights issues of artist's fraternity, seeks pending payment 2/19/2016 12:18:54 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 18: Jammu and Kashmir TV Radio and Theatre forum, in a press release, said that presently more than ten thousand professionals are associated with Doordarshan Kandra Srinagar, Jammu and Ladakh as artists, directors, script writers, equipment holders and other facilitators. These professionals are facing a lot of hardship and tough time due to non-payment of their backlog payment by Doordarshan which are pending for the last many years. Claiming that their services were hired by Doordarshan Kendras Srinagar, Jammu and ladakh for the production of in-house programmes, the Forum pointed out that unfortunately the payment of these programmes have not been paid since 2008, although sincerely efforts and dedication was put in to produce these programmes as per the highest standards of Doordarsan. They alleged that the authorities of Doordarshan both in Srinagar, Jammu as well as in New Delhi are not paying heed to their place and problems and due to pathetic attitude of authorities their life has turned into hell and are at the verge of starvation. They further said that Kashmir Channel has been defunct and the commission programmes have been stopped many years ago and the audience is being forced to watch the repeated programmes with viewership has come down drastically at the lowest ebb. During last many years, they have been trying their best to highlight problems through various means of protests and approached concerned Ministers and officials in New Delhi, but unfortunately every effort has met with naught. They have finally decided to come on roads through Nukad play to highlight the pathetic conditions of freelance artists and professionals. In the Nukad show, the artists from Kashmir also justified the demand of DADAA.
