Early Times Report Srinagar, March 3: Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an overnight encounter in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district, the police said on Thursday. The slain militants have been identified as Aashiq Hussain Charsoo, Mohammad Ishaq Parray of Laribal and Asif Ahmed of Dadsura. The encounter erupted on Wednesday evening after a joint team of the Army, CRPF and police cordoned Mir Mohalla Dadsura Tral, 35 km from here, following information about the presence of militants there, the police said. "All the three militants were holed up inside a residential house. When the search operation started, the militants opened fire on the team which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight," the police said. "The gunfight ended with the killing of all three militants," the police said, adding that three AK-47 rifles were also recovered from the site of the encounter, where a search and sanitisation operation was still under way. As the cordon was being laid around the village last evening, the residents from nearby villages tried to take out a march towards Mir Mohalla. The police had a tough time to disperse the locals. The situation in Tral is tense after the encounter. |
