Banihal, Mar 3: Angered by the alleged delay in release of their payments, some sarpanchs from Rajgarh area of Ramban and other people manhandled the executive engineer of rural development department (RDD) at Ramban today.
Sources said some sarpanchs and local people of Rajgarh reached the official residence of RDD Xen Ashok Kumar Padgotra and asked him the reason for delay in clearing the bills of works done by them in the area. Following arguments between the two sides, the Xen was manhandled by them.
On the basis of a written complaint lodged against the assailants by the concerned department, an FIR was lodged against three sarpanchs and others at police station, Ramban.
When contacted, Ramban police station SHO Pardeep Sharma said FIR No 251 under sections 332 and 353 of RPC had been lodged against three sarpanchs -- Shama Begum, Mohammad Shafi and Naseeb Singh. Investigation was in progress, he added.
The Xen said the attack on him was a pre-planned and an officer of the department was also involved in it. |
