Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Mar 3: A father son duo has been getting contracts worth crores of rupees in R&B Chatroo.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the Chatroo Division of R&B in Kishtwar district had advertised several tenders recently including issuance of various works on "work order" without floating tenders through newspapers and in a stage managed process, an influential employee was allotting the contract on the name of his father holding registered contractor card by taking other contractors of the area or District on board.
The sources informed the "Early Times" that the said employee in a well planed manner submitted sealed tenders for the advertised work fixed by the employee son as per the desired rates and accordingly allotted the said contract on the name of his father by quoting lowest tender cost while at the same time the employee son while keeping the other contractors in confidence also managed them to win low profile contracts advertised by the department.
The sources also informed that by indulging in such practice, the said employee had accumulated huge property and had also paid advance payment worth several lakhs to a land owner in posh locality of Kishtwar town over a year ago for purchasing a piece of land, but due to internal bickering among the share holders of the said piece of the land, the deal could not be finalized yet. The sources said that similar practice was adopted by his another son in PHE Department Kishtwar where several works were executed on work orders through father-son-grandson nexus working in the department in recent past, but now posted at some other places. The sources said that the nexus is though known to everyone in R&B, PMGSY and PHE Department officials, but they all surrendered before the nexus of father-sons who had become millionaire in short span of period.
The sources urged upon the Commissioner Secretary to R&B, PHE and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar to look into the matter and order probe to unravel the nexus so that small contractors and other unemployed youths who are registered through self help groups could also get a chance to execute the various departmental works to feed their family members. The sources said that the probe should be conducted for the period of last 10 years, beside demanded action against the officials.
