Early Times Report Poonch, Mar 3: Demanding immediate start of work on polytechnic college in Poonch, which was sanctioned in 2013-14, NC's provincial youth president Ajaz Jan also called upon the government to mitigate the sufferings of border dwellers. A deputation led by Jan met Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, M H Malik and raised concern on inordinate delay in the construction of Polytechnic College here. "The local students have to go to outside cities and states to pursue professional studies in the absence of a polytechnic college here," Jan said. The NC cadres also emphasised the need for mitigating sufferings of those living in the close vicinity of LoC at Poonch. "After shelling in August-September 2015, a large scale damage took place Saujiyan, Balakote and other border areas of Poonch but so far no compensation has been paid to the affected families for loss of their properties. Also, no ex-gratia has been paid to the families of those killed in enemy shelling," they said. They also told the DC that after shelling, a large number of families, who had migrated to safer areas from Degwar, Degwar Maldyalan, Kerni, Qasba, Salhotri, Khari, Gagriyan, Saujiyan, Fakirdara and other forward villages, be provided alternate lands as army was not allowing these families to visit their agricultural and residential land located near the LoC. The DC assured them to look into the issues raised by them. |
