NMC appeals PM to intervene in Jewellers' protest | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 8: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to the Prime Minister to intervene personally in the ensuing nationwide Swarankars agitation/dead lock. In a communication to Narendra Modi, Shastri said that this sector provides employment to the more than four crore workers in a direct way while almost 10 crore people arte benefited indirectly. Shastri has also taken up the cause of swarankars of Jammu & Kashmir state also, who have been vehemently by opposing two percent additional tax on excise duty. Shastri further urged Modi to concede the demand withdrawal of proposed tax as already the demand for gold and jewellery is on decline due to tumbling share market seem and prohibitive cost of jewellery items. Shasti also urged that a meeting of stakeholders in this regard should immediately to convened by the central Govt. to remove any ambiguity over the performance of this sector for contribution to economy. |
