Bali to clip JKMSC's wings 4/8/2016 11:37:52 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 8: Jammu: Minister for Health and Medical Education Department, Bali Bhagat has hinted at cutting down Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation (JKMSC) to size for its poor performance and failure to ensure timely supply of required drugs to the Government hospitals, jeopardizing the healthcare services across the state. Moreover, disappointed over the pitiable condition of the government hospitals, the Minister for health also gave ultimatum to administration of all government hospitals to strictly undertake 'cleanliness drive' from April 10 to 17. Sources told Early Times that Minister for H&ME department held first meeting after assuming charge with officials of the department and administration of GMC&H and associated hospitals and found that the JKMSC had failed to perform to its mandate. "Ordering curtailment in budget of the Corporation, the Minister for Health directed the higher officials of the department that 75 percent funds would be given to the JKMSC for buying the drugs and remaining 25 percent funds would be used by administration of government hospitals in State, "sources added. Sources further informed that Minister also specified that a specific colour strip would be embossed on all the medicines supplied to the government health institutions to differentiate the same from the similar medicines available in the market and to check their pilferage. He stressed the need for ensuring complete transparency, accountability at all levels and directed all concerned to focus on the welfare of the patients by creating neat and clean environment in the hospitals. Earlier, during surprise visit of Bali Bhagat to the Government Medical College and Hospital on April 6 the Minister came to know that GMC&H had been facing shortage of medicines and other essential supplies for last many months and the Corporation had failed to meet procurement deadlines.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
