Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 8: The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has failed to introduce Physical Education subject in all Middle, High School s of state, despite government order to make the subject compulsory. Reliable sources informed Early Times that in the year 2005 state government had issued order No 68- Edu-Tech of 2005 in which clearly mentioned that physical education was made a compulsory subject in all middle and high schools, but the order is confined only in papers and the board had framed syllabus of Physical Education only for the senior secondary level, after a long time. "After direction of government, two years back the board had introduced the subject at the senior secondary level, the same was supposed to be introduced at lower levels, but it did not happen", they said. However, the officials of BOSE held meeting with Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) wherein the officials, told the school education board to formulate the syllabus of physical education for all levels, but it was formulated only for the higher senior secondary level till now. "Physical Education subject has been made compulsory by the state government in all middle and high schools, but till date standard syllabus is yet to be framed by JKBOSE, which eventually has resulted in an inordinate delay in introducing it as a compulsory subject", source alleged. However, repeated calls by the Jurno to Secretary Prof Veena Pandita, she didn't respond the phone calls. |
