Jammu, Apr 8: On the hind side of fervent appeals by the government to the common people to pay their power dues in time, it is astounding that the government departments are the biggest contributors to the huge power deficit in the state and most government departments have pending power dues to the tunes of hundreds of crores.
As per an RTI response furnished by the department recently, in Sub division, Katra of Reasi of Power Development Department, there are 142 defaulters with long pending arrears worth many cores including 21 government offices including Public Health Engineering department, Forest department, Katra Municipality Committee, Centre Reserve Force and others having pending dues worth Rs. 3.26 Crores which have not been paid for last five years.
The 21 big defaulters are as Municipal Committee Katra, Chubgi Barrier that owes Rs 1.12 Lakhs, Sulabh Toilet, near Bus Stand Katra owes Rs 13.48 Lakhs, M/s Voda Phone, Hospital Road Katra owes Rs. 9.35 Lakhs, Executive Office of Municipal Committee Katra Number-2's High Mast (at centre No.11) owes Rs. 14.52 Lakhs, Executive Municipal Committee's 18 number High Mast Light at Bus Stand owes Rs. 75.02 Lakhs, Police Check Post Balini Bridge, Katra owes Rs. 1. 64 Lakhs, Range Forest Officer, S.C' Guest House owes Rs. 1.45 Lakhs, Commandant CRPF at Jogashram, Katra owes Rs. 13.32 Lakhs.
Whereas, Assistant Executive Engineer Transmission's Guest House owes Rs. 0.99 Lakhs, Executive Officer Municipal Committee's Street Lights owes Rs. 91.20Lakhs, Police Check Post, Serli Panthal owes Rs. 1.91 Lakhs, Executive Engineer PHE S/Division Reasi owes Rs. 0. 81 Lakhs, Commandant CRPF, JogeshRam owes Rs. 9.99 Lakhs, AEE of EM&RE, Sub division Katra, Upper Main Bazar owes 1.36 Lakhs. Moreover, Rural Department's Guest House, Kalka Nagar owes Rs. 1.17 Lakhs, Commandant CRPF Katra owes Rs. 7.19 Lakhs, Executive Engineer PHE's Filter Plant, Panthal IST owes Rs. 4.84 Lakhs, Asst. Executive Engineer, PHE Division Mechanical at Jallar owes Rs. 12.43 Lakhs, PHE Assistant Executive Engineer's WSS at Nomain Katra owes Rs. 3.88 Lakhs, Police Check Post, Nomain owes Rs. 1.09 Lakhs, and Junior Engineer PWD Quarters at Panthal owes Rs. 2.32 Lakhs.
It is pertinent to mention here that rest of the 221 defaulters have outstanding dues ranging between one lakhs to three Lakhs.
The figures are sufficient to expose the tall claim made by the successive PDD ministers who have failed to ensure collection of outstanding dues from the defaulters. |
