The angry protestors torched the effigy of Dy CM Nirmal Singh for his obnoxious remarks over the cane charge and failure to resolve the issue. Lampooning the BJP's slogan of 'zero tolerance' against the anti-nationals turning into mere rhetoric, Harsh Dev Singh vociferously condemned the unlawful baton charge on the Nationalist students who bravely upheld the honour of the 'Tricolour' while confronting certain anti-national elements inside the NIT Srinagar campus who celebrated India's defeat by the Caribbean. Flaying the delinquents who were involved in India bashing and attacking the nationalist students of Jammu and other states, Singh lambasted the State Government for granting amnesty to the stone pelters of Kashmir while slapping FIRs against the students who chanted "Bharat Mata Ki jai" during the criminal lathi charge. The members of Movement for Peace, Equality and Justice, today have condemned the Lathi-charge on non-local students at NIT Srinagar by Jammu and Kashmir Police. They have appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti-coalition government to take a stern action against the police officials and also those, who are responsible for polluting the peaceful atmosphere of NIT Campus by indulging in anti-national activities. The situation created in the NIT appears to have been properly organized at a very high level, which needs to be immediately taken stock of by going deep into its roots to identify its perpetrators and deal with them with an iron hand so as to nip the evil in the bud. Democratic Panun Kashmir has expressed concern over growing incidents of anti- India activities in NIT Srinagar. They condemned the brutal police action on non-local students of NIT Srinagar who were protesting with tricolour in their hands and chanting pro-India slogans like "Vande Mataram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai". "Instead of protecting the non-local and acting against those who raise anti-national slogans, it is surprising that the reverse is happening." said Ravinder Jalali, convenor of the party. It cannot be brushed aside as an ordinary incident but is a part of big conspiracy to throw the non-local students out of Kashmir and make NIT as a local institute where only locals will have right. The convenor of the party expressed anguish over the statement of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) terming it as a trivial issue. They criticized the KCCI for terming the issue as an ordinary, between students and administration. It is a dangerous issue and shows how the locals respond to the Indian symbol and how intolerant are they towards Indian frame of mind and Indian flag. It is sad to see the helplessness of the government that cannot protect the students who stood up for India in India.
