Seven bovine smugglers held, nine animal rescued | | | Rajouri, Apr 8: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, the Rajouri police today arrested seven bovine smugglers and rescued nine bovine animals from their clutches during a naka checking on Jammu-Poonch highway. "Following specific input, a police team from Nowshera police station lead by inspector R S Parihar, SHO under the supervision of Atul Sharma, Additional SP laid a special police naka at Thalka, police said. Police said, "During naka checking police party intercepted 4 Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration numbers BK-7532(temp), JK12A-o969, JK02AM-8406 & JK02AV-9692 carrying the animals." "As the occupants of the vehicles couldn't produce the required documents / permission for ferrying the animals, all the seven occupants of vehicles' were arrested, police said adding, "Police also seized the vehicles while nine animals were rescued." The accused have been booked under FIR Nos 45-46-47-48/2016 u/s 188 RPC and 3PSA and further investigation was on by the police in this matter. Pertinently, bovine smugglers have become active with the opening of Mughal road as after purchasing animals on less prices from Rajouri-Poonch remote areas, the smugglers use to sell the animals on higher rates in valley. |
