Srinagar, Apr 8: The anti-graft body Vigilance Organization today said that it will soon submit a preliminary enquiry report for alleged embezzlement and misuse of government funds by the then medical superintendent of Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital (JLNM) Rainawari here. While talking to media persons including a valley based news agency, SP Vigilance Organization Central Kashmir, Muhammad Sayed Pano told the verification is going on and soon the report will be submitted to Vigilance Commission. "We are on job and the report is almost complete. After the submission of the report everything will become clear," he said. Pertinent to mention here that in this January, the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) had directed the Vigilance Organization to register a preliminary enquiry. The Vigilance Organization official told that preliminary probe has been initiated and case stands registered after thorough verification and checking of all the hospital records. Earlier, while proceeding on a complaint against medical superintendent, JLNM hospital Srinagar regarding embezzlement, misuse of government funds, favouritism and other irregularities while making purchases of different medical equipment worth Crores of Rupees, the SVC obtained a detailed factual report from the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir based on scrutiny of records regarding allegations levelled in the complaint. "Examination and analysis of the entire record, prima-facie, established the criminal abuse of official position by Dr Iqbal while making the purchases for the hospital by not inviting tenders, not getting approvals from the competent authorities and by going beyond his financial competence delegated to him by the government." |
