Jammu, Apr 8: Parents, as well as students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar today protested against the college authorities for the second day to postpone the exams, which were scheduled for April 11. The distressed students, who came to Jammu yesterday, did not reveal their identity as they were afraid of their career.Talking to mediapersons, parents of the students said, "Our children are scared and not in a condition to appear in the examination, so we demand to postpone it. "Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh did not come to meet the students. If he is not safe within the campus, you can surmise what can happen to our children," they added. One of the students said he wanted strict action against the SP and SSP responsible for the lathi charge. Tension started brewing inside the NIT campus last week after India lost to West Indies in the T-20 World Cup semi-final, prompting some local students to rejoice and burst crackers. This led to protest by outstation students, resulting in clashes. Students said the released video was doctored and belonged to an event of April 1, This was an attempt to jeopardise their careers, they added. |
