Jewellers' strike enters 38th day, protest rally taken out | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 8: The jewellers' strike against one per cent excise duty on non-silver jewellery entered 38th day today. Addressing the protestors at Jain Bazar, Raman Suri (Chairman, Sarafa Association and Swarnkar Sangh Joint Action Committee Jammu Province) said, that the Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, is such a irresponsible person that even after 38 days of our agitation, he is not giving a ear to our problem and country is suffering crores of loss due to this strike. He said that Jammu is a City of Temples and as Navratras have started they wish all the Jammuities a very Happy and Prosperous Navratras. We will do peaceful Dharnas, etc. during Navratras and will not take out rallies, as we are well aware that rallies disturb the smooth day to day function of citizens. He urged to Union Minister not to spoil their Holy Navratras, which are the most sacred festival of Jammuities as well as whole India. Speaking at Jain Bazar protest, Vijay Kumar Verma (General Secretary Sarafa Association Jammu) said, "We still believe that Excise Duty will be rolled back as and when our respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji will intervene in our matter, as we have full faith in the Union Ministry” Parjan Kumar Jain (President Sarafa Association Jammu) and Kulbhushan Anand (President Swarnkar Sangh Jammu District) said, that their protest will continue till Roll Back of Excise fully and they will not open their establishments till their demands fulfilled. |
