Jammu, Apr 8: While Amarnath Choudhary, the main accused in the Royal Palm cheating case, was yesterday sent by court to 11-day custody of crime branch (CB), two accused in the case were still at large. The accused included Amarnath's son Radhay Shayam and cashier Kaka Ram. Both of them had gone underground after the registration of case against them. Amarnath's wife Mohini Devi, also an accused in the case, was yesterday given bail by the court on the ground that she was an old woman and had no active role in the whole episode. The CB had registered a case against the accused after it received number of complaints from the investors, who are said to have been duped of crores of rupees by the accused. The accused were booked by CB for commission of offences punishable under sections 420, 406 and 120-B of RPC with the allegations that they and their son Radhey Shyam Chowdhary entered into a joint venture with M/s Ridhi Sidhi Infra Projects Pvt Ltd for construction of a multiplex on a piece of land owned by them. As per the terms of agreement, M/s Ridhi Sidhi Infra Projects Pvt Ltd was to raise the project and the profit had to be shared by both the parties. The petitioners were under obligation to transfer the space in the multiplex by way of sale deeds in favour of investors. It is alleged that the accused , in order to cheat the investors and the partner, backtracked from discharging their obligation. On the basis of preliminary inquiry, CB registered a case against them. |
