Jammu, Apr 8: Citing irregularities and discrepancies in establishing of medical shops in the hospital premises in the Jammu Division, Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat, toady asserted that the process stands revoked and some shops which have been set up are being closed with immediate effect. Pertinently, on behalf of Health & Medical Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited invited e-bid for sale & storage of drugs/medicines, for the finalization of rate contract for opening & running chain of 24x7 pharmacy shops in the Govt. Hospitals of Jammu Division. "The Sehyog Pharmacy succeeded the bid and initially started three medical stores at Super Specialty Hospitality, Government Medical College and Hospital and Psychiatric Hospital ", sources said. They further added that the loyalists of the former minister in hospitals managed prime locations in these hospitals sparking controversy. However, if sources are to believed, some close aides of former Health Minister in connivance with some doctors holding administrative posts in GMC and associated hospitals worked overtime to establish these medical stores to please their master prior to formation of new state government. Earlier on April 6, just two days after assuming charge of Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat paid a surprise visit to the Government Medical College and Hospital wherein he interacted with patients in the Emergency Ward where he found deficiency of ventilators, sanitation problem in wards of the hospital. "Shortage of medicines vis-à-vis glucose, disposable syringes, etc was noticed by the Minister in the hospital", sources said, adding that staff shortage is a big issue in the hospital as one Nursing Orderly (NO) is looking after two wards. |
