Vacating aggression: 'POJK, terror only issues' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu. June 4: Nasty comments of Pakistani nuclear scientist A Q Khan that "his country has the capability to hit New Delhi in five minutes" have evoked very strong reaction from New Delhi. Without naming him, New Delhi invoked the Pakistani envoy in India, who had said that only "foolish" people make such remarks. New Delhi said, "J&K is not part of unfinished agenda of partition". It also rejected Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain's recent comments that India was "running away" from talks and said it was the failure of Pakistan to address Indian concerns which had hampered the dialogue process between the two nations It was spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Vikas Swarup, who explained the Indian stand on J&K. It was after years that the MEA lambasted Pakistan in unambiguous terms and also said that this part of J&K was not an issue and the two issues which have embittered the relations between the two nations were Pakistan-sponsored terror and Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK). Pakistan was needlessly internationalizing the Kashmir issue and it was not the main cause of tension between the two countries, he said, adding that the externally sponsored terrorism was the real issue. "We completely reject the insinuations by the vested interests against India which has rightful sovereignty over the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir. We also stress that there are no global dimensions of the Kashmir issue except in the minds of those who seek to needlessly internationalize a bilateral matter," he, in fact, said, and added Pakistan must vacate the aggression so that POJK and Gilgit-Baltistan were reintegrated into India. "Pakistan needs to vacate its illegal occupation of parts of Jammu and Kashmir and address the suffering caused to millions in those parts," he said, and added that the "main cause for lack of peace and continued instability in our region is externally sponsored terrorism and Pakistan's repeated interference in internal affairs of India". Undoubtedly, the MEA did the right thing by putting things in perspective and telling Pakistan that there would not be a forward movement unless Islamabad reformed itself and behaved as a responsible nation. However, it committed a faux pas when it asked Pakistan to vacate the aggression knowing it fully that Pakistan will not do that. New Delhi has to refashion its whole policy towards POJK and Gilgit-Baltistan considering the fact that the people of these areas had been demanding independence from Pakistan, saying the people of this part of J&K were privileged as they enjoyed more powers as compared to the rest of the Indians. Pakistan will not vacate the aggression. India has to go in for surgical operations. Time is also ripe for such surgical operations as the internal situation in Pakistan has turned alarming and no less than 50000 Blouch nationalists have resolved to destroy Pakistan and bombard Pakistan major cities including Lahore and Islamabad. New Delhi has to dismantle all the terror training camps located in POJK Or, it has to act like Israel acts to protect its sovereignty and eradicate anti-Israel elements. |
