Anti-encroachment campaign of Forest deptt goes in vain | One person holds deptt hostage | | Early Times Report jammu, June 4: The tall claims of Forest Minister of retrieving forest land from the clutches of encroachers stand exposed. The Divisional Forest officer of Rajouri, admitted that the forest closure has been encroached by an individual, the department seems reluctant to vacate the encroached forest land at Panchayat Badoon in Rajouri district. As per the reply of an RTI in possession of Early Times, the Divisional Forest officer of Division Rajouri, Anup Kumar Soni it is clearly mentioned that one Mohammad Sadiq along with his family is residing in a building in forest closure at Panchayat Badoon. The reply of the RTI also reads that the said person has constructed two rooms near the said building by trespass. "The Divisional Forest Officer also admit that the said person had not paid any rent of the building of the Public Works Department (PWD) vide communication no 8411-12 dated 04-09-2015 to the Executive Engineer PWD", reads the RTI reply. The Divisional Forest officer also stated that the action is being initiated to vacate the building under sec-48A of the J&K Forest Act but the million dollar question is that all the facts that were admitted by the Divisional Forest Officer on 03-10-2015 and it almost 8 months when the officer stated that the departmental action would be initiated against the said trespasser but till no action has been taken place. The reluctance of the department to initiate action against the trespasser clearly indicates that the department is shielding the culprit. Anup Kumar Soni, Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri when contacted by Early Times stated that we have issued three notices to the Mohammad Sadiq under sec-48A of the J&K Forest Act and soon the encroachment would be vacated soon. |
