PG students caught between devil and the deep sea | NET, PSC exams on same day | | Mohd Irfan Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 4: Post Graduate students of both universities of Jammu and Kashmir who have to take the exams of 10+2 Lecturer and CSIR-NET of subjects zoology and Mathematics, which is scheduled to be held on 19th June, are caught between the devil and deep sea as those students who have to compete for exams, as both are simultaneously are on the same date and time these hapless students allege that they are unable to understand what to do at this crucial juncture and what is more shocking is that the state recruiting agency public service commission (PSC) is well aware about the clash of the dates of exams but is sad to say they are not making postponement rather gullible students opine that as we have to take both exams otherwise we don't make the PSC to do postpone of exam. Students sharing details with early times that they have moved several representations through different modes but it's astonishing to note that PSC refused to accept our pleas and not give any reply rather students alleged that secretary PSC has categorically stated that "you have to either quit one of the two exams" which is on the same date. Elaborating further these students divulged that there are more than 7000 to 10000 students who have to take exam of 10+2 lecturer exams of zoology and Mathematics combinations and the JKPSC authorities are well aware about the same but they apparently adopted a adamant attitude towards our plea and they curse their luck that they have to suffer for no fault of theirs". It is pertinent to mention here that in the month of March the date of National eligibility test (NET) have announced and for the Lecturer 10+2 in the month of May and the JKPSC authorities being well aware that NET exam is on 19th of June and they too held the lecturer exam of this combination on this date which raise eye brows over claims of transparency and accountability. Parshotam, a student training guns on the JKPSC for their dictatorial approach for not doing postponement of exam said" We have deposited Rs 1000 for the NET exam and Rs 500 for the Lecturer exam and the repeated pleas to the PSC secretary and chairman fall on deaf ears and it doesn't know why they not do postponement of exam rather we doing it as it is going totally unjustified for us and we Condemned it in clear cut terms "he rue. Students are up in arms against the JKPSC for not co-operating with them who are in mental trauma that if the exam is not postponed then they have to suffer as their precious time get wasted coupled with the 'midnight oil which they burned' for preparing for the lecturer exam being left these students in lurch. Experts wishing anonymity said "it's a mandatory duty upon the premier recruiting agency JKPSC that before finalizing any date they should first enquire from the concerned authorities that the exams not coincide but they apparently done this in this lecture exam". Recently Service selection board(SSRB) have postponed the exam of Finance inspector which is scheduled to held last Sunday after students representations of postponement as dates clash with each other but the JKPSC is no mood to go lenient towards the students who have prepared the exams. Students have urged the JKPSC to do needful in this regard otherwise ready to face for agitation and for which you responsible for dire consequences. When contacted Secretary and controller JKPSC ,Shakeel ul- Rehman ruled out any possibility of the postponement of the exam and it's a fast rack recruitment process we can't make it postponed". When asked both the exams are on the same date, listen what secretary had to say "Either one of the two exams students can take" he asserted. |
