Fearing humiliating defeat Rashid withdraws nomination papers | Anantnag By-Polls | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, June 4: Er Rashid-Awami Itehad Party and independent lawmaker from Langate Assembly segment of North Kashmir on Satarday withdrew his nomination for the upcoming Anantnag By-Elections. Returning Officer Anantnag Assembly Constituency, Mohd Aslam said that one candidate Er Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, Independent, has withdrawn his nomination for the upcoming By-Elections for Anantnag Assembly constituency. Now eight candidates are in fray to contest the upcoming by-elections for the Assembly constituency, scheduled to be held on 22nd of this month. Highly placed sources said that party advised Er Rashid not to contest the election after they presumed a humiliating defeat. "He (Er Rashid) can secure just few hundred votes in Anantnag. People here doubted his intentions from day first that is the reason he withdrew his nomination," they added. Political observers too doubt the intention of lawmaker known for making fiery speeches. "Apparently it seems lawmaker filled nomination papers to blackmail either PDP or Congress," they said, adding legislator exposed himself before the public. Interestingly, Rashid on the day of filing nomination papers has termed the Anantnag by-polls his direct fight with RSS. Now going by his politically charged statement, Er Rashid lost the election even before fighting it. |
