JAMMU, June 13: All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (AJKLTF) affiliated to Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasang (ABRSMS) organized one day state level teachers' convention at Jammu club here today. , Jagdish Prasad Singhal, Vice Chancellor, Jaipur University, Rajasthan was the main speaker on the occasion.In itsconventionthe Federation expressed concern over the alarming situation in education department and has strongly conveyed to the state government about need of overall reforms in the department. The convention was started with the lightening of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest and SaraswatiVandana.Over 300 delegates from across the state participated in the convention. Mohan Singh, State President of the Federation read the welcome speech. Delegates from Kashmir led by provincial president Raja Mohd Amin Khan also took part in the convention. Ratan Sharma, State General Secretary, in his address highlighted the organizational activities in the state and raised certain demands which need immediate attention of the state Government. He said that there was a need of a separate Independent Education Commission in the state for the rederessal of the genuine grievances of the teaching community and overall development of the department. Terming Transfer melas, mare an eye wash, he stressed on the need of a concrete transfer policy and that should be proper implementation in true letter and spirit. Supporting demands of Rehber-e-Taleem teachers he said, "ReT teachers are part and parcel of the teaching community and they must not be treated as 2nd class teachers and their demands must be considered sympathetically".
