Anantnag, June 13: Despite the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) being at place in south Kashmir's Anantnag constituency, where by-polls are slated for June 22, authorities are busy in macadamizing roads reportedly on the directions of PDP-BJP alliance to lure the voters. Reports said that R& B department kick started macadamizing a road link connecting Pushwara to main National Highway a few days ago in violation of the MCC. The road approximately 6 kilometers long was in a pathetic condition affecting the surrounding areas. Due to bad condition of the road, commuters were facing a lot of difficulty. Even the residents of the area had protested many times demanding that the administration construct the road, but at that time, their grievances went unheard. However, the work on the road was stopped once independent candidate Mansoor Ahmad khan filled a written complaint with Returning Officer. The District Election Officer Anantnag has too served an explanation letter to R&B officials who have disowned the work. "Our officials have already disowned the work done by some contractor," Abdul Rashid Malik, Executive Engineer R&B Khanabal told ET. He said that they have advertised the work today and after all formalities macadamization of the road would be taken up. Sheikh Mehboob, Chief election agent of independent candidate, Mansoor Ahmad Khan said that they have also filled several complaints with RO against R&B department for macadamizing the roads in Anantnag during these days. "Mirgund-Chee, Rampora, KabaMarg-Kuchpora , Fathepora-gund, Buneh-Dailgam waniham- Dailgam ADV road to kamad & kamad to check, Sarnal-Rampora, Anchidora-Anzwala, Seepan -Mirgund -Khoodh roads were also macadamized in violation of code of conduct," he claimed.
