Govt re-orders ban on private practice of HoDs | | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, June 13: Once again the Health and Medical Education Department has issued a notification ordering ban on private practice of Head of Departments (HODs). Pertinently, various Head of Departments at GMCH and its associated hospitals are flouting the Government orders and indulge in private practice. According to sources, the department issued numbers of directions as well as orders to strictly banning the private practices but unfortunately the implementation of the orders were nowhere in sight which clearly shows that the directions and order are mere an eye wash. "The 'influential' Heads of Departments (HoDs) in various units at Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu as well as Kashmir and its associated hospitals continue indulge in the private practice, despite receiving Non Practicing Allowance (NPA) from the Government, " Sources stated. An order-copy circular no 02-HME of 2016 dated 13.06.2016-is in possession of Early Times stated that Government Order No. 43-HME of 2013 dated 17.01.2013 makes it incumbent and binding upon the HoDs in Government Medical Colleges and Government Dental Colleges and the Associated Hospitals of the State not to indulge in private practice. It is hereby reiterated that the above Government Order needs to be complied with in its true letter and spirit. The order also stated the Government shall be ensuring strict monitoring of the compliance of this Government Order and in this regard, if any doctor concerned, as per the ibid Government Order, is found indulging in private practice, strict disciplinary action shall be taken against the concerned. "Principals of Government Medical Colleges, Government Dental Colleges and Medical Superintendents of the concerned Associated Hospitals and Dental Colleges are enjoined upon to ensure information of these circular instructions to all the concerned doctors and also to ensure at their level that there is no event where the Government is compelled to proceed against any doctor in this regard, "the order said. |
