'Illegal' dental clinics running in Rajouri; admn fails to act | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 13:Few days after a doctor appointed under National Health Mission (NHM) was allegedly found indulged in 'illegal private practice' in Rajouri district against whom departmental action was also taken, scores of dental clinics purportedly running in violation of guidelines of Dental Council of Indian (DCI) came to light which raised eyes brows of many. However, the officials at the helm of the affairs have maintained criminal silence reasons best known to them only. Sources maintained that there are so many dental clinics which are being run by Dental Assistants which is clear cut violation of direction of Dental Council of India (DCI). "These dental clinics are just money minting establishments and the dental assistants running them have nothing to do with the health risks of the gullible patients", said a source. According to sources, one of the dental clinics is being run by a dental assistant and the clinic was registered in the name of Dental Surgeon who is pursing Post Graduation from Srinagar for last two years. Astonishingly, one of the Dental Clinics which is functioning at Gujjar Mandi is being run by a dental student for last two years who have to clear final exams. One of the retired dental surgeon said that the process of the registration of dental clinics should go to the hands of the Director Health Services (DHS) as they have more man power than dental council and they are already involved in the registration process of nursing homes, diagnostic centers etc. |
