Katra, June 13: The three-day historic Aghar Jitto Mela in remembrance of Baba Jitto Mal at Aghar Jitto, about 6 km away from katra is commencing from June 19. This was disclosed by the Deputy Commissioner Reasi Ravinder kumar during a meeting of officers and local committee members today at Aghar Jitto. This ancient religious place is situated in the lap of Trikuta Hills on Katra -Reasi road where lakh of devotees of Baba Jitto from various parts of the country visits to pay their obeisance. As per the religious rites, the devotees of Baba Jitto on 17 june shall perform the Rote Ceremony on the bank of river Chenab near Dera Baba area by giving Rote to the river Chenab followed by other religious ceremonies. DC directed the officers of various departments to make all the necessary arrangements well before the commencement of the mela which include security, drinking water, and un-interrupted power supply, adequate provision of essential commodities, sanitation, fire services and transport arrangements. Health department was directed to ensure availability of team of doctors with ambulance and required medicines round the clock during the mela days. Similarly PHE was asked to ensure availability of water tankers at the mela site.Besides, adequate deployment of security personal enroute and around mela site would be made by district police.
