Theft of poles: PDD workers booked, contractors go scot free | | | Early Times Report Sunderbani, June 20: While two PDD workers were booked for allegedly stealing poles from Sunderbani, no action has so far been taken against the contractors who had received the consignment. PDD workers - Kewal Krishan of Barnara and Mohammad Parvez of Magran - were held guilty of stealing a number of poles from the electricity department and a case in this regard was registered at Sunderbani police station on May 15, 2013. The poles were alleged to have been sold by them to some influential contractors who had taken them in tractor-trolleys, police sources said. While the two PDD workers were held and punished under law, police had not bothered to book the contractors who had purchased the poles from them, sources alleged, saying the contractors were the real culprits in the theft. It was surprising to note that even after three years of the incident, police were 'clueless' to the whereabouts of the contractors who had received the stolen poles. |
