Why babus' tough stance against attachments is farce 6/22/2016 12:33:27 AM Abodh Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, June 21: The dictates of the senior officers against attachments of the subordinate officials in various government departments are farce as several senior babus have attached chosen officials with their offices and even residences for their personal convenience. A senior officer of the rank of Commissioner Secretary, who pretends to be vehemently opposed to attachments in his department and takes strict notice of any such order of his subordinate officer, has himself attached a group-D employee of the department he heads to run the errands of his residence in Jammu. Sources divulged to ET that an employee posted in the periphery of Jammu, who owns an autorickshaw, has been permanently attached to the residence of the Commissioner Secretary at Jammu and has been exempted from all his duties at his place of posting. "He has been assigned the duty of picking up a cook, who works at the residence of the Commissioner Secretary from his home at Rehari and drop him at the official residence of the officer. His duty for the day is over only after he drops the cook back to Rehari after feeding the family of the officer" disclosed the source. "He has to be available outside the residence of the officer for any directions from inside, though he manages to ferry a few passengers while he waits outside" he added. Sources also disclosed that once the immediate superior of this 'attached' employee sought his detachment citing government orders, but was snubbed by his supervisory officers.
