Trusts managing Hindu shrines in Kashmir under scanner | Fail to provide basic facility to devotees | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 21: Despite Hindu shrines like Kheer Bhawani and Shankaracharya temple in Kashmir receiving huge donations from the pilgrims, the trusts managing these shrines have failed to provide bare minimum facilities to pilgrims visiting there. A few trusts have reportedly run into controversy over pilferage in the accounts and huge money being received as donations having no accountability. The Trust looking after the management of Kheer Bhawani and Shankaracharya temple has also failed to provide bare minimum facilities to pilgrims visiting there. The buildings at Kheer Bhwawani have been constructed by the government while the concerned trust which is looking handling the affairs of the Shrine over the years has failed to provide any facility though the Shrine has a very good income in shape of donations and offerings. This way majority of pilgrims visiting the holy shrine on the occasion of Jesth Ashtami, birthday of Goddess, have to spend the night under open sky despite the fact that the shrine has a lot of land at its disposal which can be converted for construction of more quarters. In Tulmulla in case of rain on the festival of Jeshtashtami pilgrims have to face hardships as there is no Sarai for them to take refuge. The concerned trust has never bothered to look into this problem and instead took a lead in opposing the popular demand regarding passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill. Likewise no proper arrangements have been put at place at Shankaracrya temple though a large number of pilgrims visit there daily. At Tulmulla another Trust which owns several Kanals of land has an old Dharamshala at its disposal. It has made no attempt to construct a new saria or Dharmshala there. |
