Heart patients suffer in ward No. 2 of SSH, admin turns blind eye | Poor State of Health Care | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report Jammu, July 21: The tall claims of the Government to provide required basic facilities to the indoor patients at Super Specialty Hospital have proven to be a hoax. Heart patients admitted in the hospital are craving for facilities, which government had promised after throwing open the SSH here. While talking to Early Times patients admitted in Ward No. 2 of the hospital said, "This hospital is a farce on the name of Super specialty hospital. The pesky power cuts in the hospital have become a norm and in the absence of electricity administration has failed to make alternate arrangement to keep the ward cool." A patient from Jourian stated that ever since he got admission at SSH for his heart ailment, he has not seen electricity with AC functioning totally crippled giving him sleepless nights. Another lady patient from outskirt of Jammu said that she is feeling suffocated in the ward due to failure of Air Conditioners since past two days because of power failure there. Besides, electricity patients and attendants are craving for potable water as there is no drinking water facility available in the health institution. On enquiry from the staffer of the hospital, the sources said, that since past one week there is no arrangement of electricity in ward no. 2 nor any one seems to be bothered to take steps to restore electricity and AC functioning. The sources said told that crores were spent for raising SSH but there no provision has been kept for having generator back up nor fans have been installed in the wards. They said that laboratories and other areas in the hospital are having electricity and ACs are working but ward no. 2 is devoid of this basic facility ,thus giving step motherly treatment instead of hassle free medical treatment to patients. Sources said the higher ups in the hospital administration are too busy in their own world and seem to have no time to address the grievances of patients. If higher ups are busy second rung officials should have taken the cognizance of the matter, sources added. It seems the entire hospital administration has missed to know the appalling conditions prevailing in ward no. 2 or they have just turned a blind eye towards the plight of patients. |
