Snapped mobile internet service restored in Jammu, Samba | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 21 : The mobile internet service, which was snapped as a preventive measure in some of the districts across Jammu region sensing trouble, was restored here this evening. Though the broadband internet remained functional throughout the day but mobile internet of all the telecom service providers, was suspended during wee hours today in view of some apprehensions of tension in Bari Brahmana area of Samba district over a land issue between two communities. ''The mobile internet service was temporarily snapped early morning in view of a 'dangal' to be organised by the members of particular community on a land, which as per another community, belonged to them and used for religious congregations in Bari Brahmana area of Samba,'' a senior official here said. ''Yes, we had snapped the mobile internet service but it got restored this evening,'' Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu here told . He asserted that the decision was taken by the administration, police and other agencies to prevent spreading of ''unwanted'' rumours on social sites, which could lead to tension in the area. ''Everything passed off peacefully. Both the communities with consent and mutual understand organised the programme,'' a senior police official said. Last year also tension broke out between two communities over the same issue, which led to minor clashes. Meanwhile internet services snapped in Jammu and Samba districts have been restored while liquor shops closed as preventive measure also opened. Earlier the internet services of all types remained suspended from June 13 to 15 over alleged desecration of temples act in Jammu. |
