The funds incurred by state government in 2013, sanctioned by Central Government in 2010 under Centre Sponsored Scheme (CSS) for up gradation of Vet Labs in newly created districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Reliable sources in department concern told Early Times that in these districts at least 50 percent population are earning their livelihood through cattle but astoundingly state government has failed to provide Veterinary laboratory facilities. The twin districts livestock population is good, keep in mind government had sanctioned number of Veterinary institutions in papers in which most of them are open weakly and others are run by internal arrangement.
In Ramban, one could find District level Vet Lab runs in a single room, lack of equipments besides several posts of this lab yet not sanctioned by government.
At present nearby 41 veterinary institutions which is dependent on this lab including a Veterinary hospital, five dispensaries, seven mobile veterinary centers, eight livestock Development Centers, ten First Aid Centers and three poultry centers.
Three posts of Veterinary Surgeon against 11 recommended posts catering the Animal Husbandry department in Ramban. Due to lack of manpower the livestock population of these districts would be decreased.
