Send regular updates against corrupt officials, CM tells SVO, SVC

Srinagar, July 2: The Jammu and Kashmir government has asked the state Vigilance Commission (SVC) and State Vigilance Organization to send regular updates to the civil Secretariat so that corrupt officers can be prevented from occupying sensitive seats.
While the state government officials claimed that the new instructions were part of an ongoing process to keep an eye on and possibly weed out bad elements, but sources said that these are fresh directions from the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to project a cleaner face in the government.
One of the senior cabinet minister wished anonymity told Early Times that Chief Minister is of the opinion that the corrupt officials are not mending their ways. "I want to tell you that now on directions from the Chief Minister, written instructions will be forwarded to the State Vigilance Organization and State Vigilance Commission to immediately list out "officers with dubious service record" so that action could be initiated against such people," the minister claimed.
He said that the Vigilance Organization will also be asked to submit it to the Chief Minister's Secretariat for immediate scrutiny followed by action.
The minister also said that the instructions will also be forwarded to all the Commissioner Secretaries to submit the list of HOD's, Directors, MD's ,KAS officers and including other tainted officer against whom many corruption charges have been leveled for taking immediate action against them by the Government.
He said that government has also taken a decision that that officers having good integrity will be given important assignment involving public dealing whereas officers of doubtful integrity will not be posted to any sensitive assignment or those having public dealing.
Meanwhile sources said that the Chief Minister has asked all the cabinet ministers to issue directives to their secretaries to prepare lists of officers of doubtful integrity and undesirable officials in the department to root out Corruption.
Sources said that the measures are being taken regarding the reports with the government that many officials are involved in the practices of corruption.
