Shame! BJP mantri to host iftaar; forgets slain CRPF jawans | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 2: A senior BJP leader and a minister is planning to host a grand iftaar party here on Monday (July 4). The leader is planning to invite all the top personalities of the Valley but the list of guests doesn't include BJP district presidents and the grass-root party workers, sources told Early Times. They said that BJP leader wants to avoid the district presidents and the workers to ensure that iftaar party passes off without raking any controversies. "The BJP minister has assigned the job of inviting the people to one of his close aides. The aide has been very choosy while sending the invitations," insiders added. They said the leader is throwing the iftaar party despite severe opposition from his party members, who were of the opinion that party should be avoided in wake of the killing of eight paramilitary CRPF men in a militant attack at Pampore last month. "The BJP leader is throwing the iftaar party to appease Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and prove his secular credentials," said a source. He said the BJP leader has not sought the permission of the party high command and is throwing the iftaar party without taking the central leaders into confidence. Sources said that a few BJP leaders had conveyed to the senior leader that he should refrain from throwing the iftaar party to express solidarity with the family members of the slain CRPF men. "As it's everyone is questioning the ideology of BJP and RSS as both the parties never preached secularism.BJP taking a soft stand has already dented its credibility in the Jammu region, where it won 25 out of 37 seats." Insiders revealed that senior BJP leader has asked the people advising him to "mind their own business" and not to meddle in his affairs. "Only a few party bearers from the state unit have been sent the invitation cards, while others have been ignored," the insider added. He said, "The state unit leaders are mulling to boycott the party as the mark of protest and to send a message that they don't endorse the dictatorial policies of the senior party leader who holds an important portfolio in the present government." A BJP leader while talking to Early Times said, "Our party has never thrown iftaar parties. It's for the first time that a BJP minister is going against the set principles of the party. Our sincere advice to him is that he should cancel the scheduled iftaar party aimed at appeasing the Kashmir based leaders." |
