BJP MLA Jasrotia was not allowed to speak
Transfer of Property Bill
7/3/2016 12:13:56 AM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 2: BJP MLA from Kathua Rajeev Jasrotia has become a problem for the BJP leadership. He has been taking a line different from the party line and had on a number of occasions exposed the BJP on the floor of the assembly. He had openly accused the PDP-BJP government of doing injustice with Jammu and giving preferential treatment to Kashmir. He had said in the Assembly that while Kashmir got more funds, Jammu got only crumbs.
The latest example was his insistence in the assembly that "he will speak on the controversial Transfer of Property Bill and seek its complete withdrawal", which the government on Thursday sent to the select committee for reasons best known to it and despite the fact that the NC and the Congress had offered their support to the Bill. In fact, the entire opposition charged the government with "killing the Bill". Had the Government so liked, the Bill would have been easily adopted. Pawan Gupta would have been the sole MLA, who would have opposed it tooth and nail.
The Bill was aimed at freezing attorney and agreement to sell etc in Jammu province to prevent non-permanent residents from purchasing land, which the Jammu-based legislators believed will totally kill the industry in Jammu.
Sources close to state BJP president Sat Sharma, who is also MLA, revealed that "the president of the party told Jasrotia that if he wanted to speak on transfer of Property Bill, he would only demand that it should be sent to select committee and that he will not demand its withdrawal. But Jasrotia said on the face of Sat Sharma that he will speak and only demand the withdrawal of the Transfer of Property Bill as he had already moved an amendment seeking its withdrawal. Convinced that Jasrotia would not yield, Sat Sharma refused to give him time to speak in the assembly".
Sources further reveal that when Pawan Gupta went into the well to register his protest against the bill, "Jasrotia also want to join him but again he was not allowed". Pawan Gupta was also not allowed to speak.
If one goes by the sources close to Sat Sharma, then it can be said that action against Jasrotia could be in the offing. Earlier also, Sat Sharma had threatened action against Jasrotia and Jasrotia had asked him to do whatever he wanted him to do but he will not work against the interests of Jammu. Let's see what action the BJP leadership takes against Jasrotia, who belongs to the family of hardcore Jan Sanghis.
