Poonch, July 3: Monsoon showers though brought respite from scorching heat in Jammu region, many areas the Mendhar town of the district Poonch were disconnected from the main town, due to landslides triggered by heavy rains," sources said here today. Sources said heavy down pour in Mendhar caused flash floods in Harni area and a vital link was washed away on Hami-Nar road connectivity several villages including Parat, Naka Manjhari, Mohra Kullar, Sanjit, Kasiot besides other hemlets were cut off with rest of the town leaving a population of 15000 souls in lurch. While expressing their resentment the locals said that this vital link has become a golden eggs laying hen for PWD because every year the said link gets washed away in monsoons and the work is being given to blue eyed contractors and the process goes on in the same way they alleged. As the Eid festival is falling after two days people have to make bumper purchases but now we remained cut off from the Mendhar town perhaps Eid may go without celebrations this year said an aged person of the area. They urged to higher authorities to construct a permanent bridge on Harni-Nar road to avoid any such eventuality in future the locals added. Meanwhile, Mendhar Youth club president advocate Nadeem Hussain Khan has urged R&B Minister AR Veeri and district administration to take the cognizance of the situation and restore the link road without any delay as the Eid festival is approaching nearer and people have to make purchase, he added. |
