Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, July 3: A major scandal has surfaced in Rajnagar block of district Rajouri, wherein school and college going students allegedly close to the Panchayat representative, were shown as MGNREGA job card holders and thousands of rupees weres deposited in their accounts. As per the documents obtained by Bilal Ahmed of Panchayat Halqa Phalni,, after hectic exercise as BDO office was not willing to give information, it has been found that nearly half a dozen students were shown as MGNREGA job card holders and amount to the tune of several thousands was also deposited in their accounts. As per reply furnished by BDO office and Photostat copies of the attendance register obtained by RTI activist, these students are Shah Nawaz, who was a regular student in Higher Secondary School Samote, under roll number 5, while the MGNREGA job card number was 338. Another one is Majeeb Ahmed son of Mohammad Naseeb and is enrolled in HSS Samote under roll number 3 and was shown as skilled labour but job card number was not shown while name in the MGNREGA card is found written as Mohammad Majib son of Mohamamd Nasib and funds was also transferred in his account. Tariq Aziz son of Gulam Mohamamd and his job card number is shown as 429 and in the attendance registered obtained by RTI activist, he was also enrolled under roll number 36 and had attended the classes. Shabina Kousar job card number is 553 and her roll number in the College attendance sheet in GDC Budhal College is 52 and funds were also transferred in her account while as Asif Iqbal's job card number is 271 while as in the GDC Budhal college, he was enrolled under roll number 129. Moreover, Mohammad Bashir was shown as working in two panchayats with two different job card number. In the Shahpur panchayat, he was found drawing money under job card number 220-A and in Phalni panchayat he was getting money under job card number 486-A. The RTI activist, Bilal Bhat alleged that all these misappropriation of funds and manipulations have been made possible by Sarpanch of area Mohammad Iqbal of Phalni and his son Ajaz Iqbal who was engaged as Gram Rojgar Sewak (GRS) for one year, but has been continuing for the last nearly four years. GRS of Panchayat Phalni alleged that a programming officer had himself made the invoices and done these embezzlements. "When the matter came to my notice, I had taken it with BDO, who had recuperated the amount from the account of a college girl student", he said. On being asked any action was initiated and responsibility was fixed, he replied in negative. |
